About fine lines and wrinkles
As you age, the years of laughing, smiling, talking and tanning are expressed on your skin.
Easing these marks of time is both an art and skill. South Island physicians are specialists in rejuvenating the skin on your face and neck with non-surgical, non-invasive techniques: recovery is much faster and less expensive than with surgical methods. They are specialists at assessing your skin and prescribing the appropriate treatment plan for your needs.
Dynamic wrinkles due to repetitive facial expressions, like the 'crows feet' around the eyes, are often treated successfully with Botox. Wrinkles caused by aging, sun exposure, and other external factors like cigarette smoking are called resting wrinkles and may respond well with a filler or a combination of therapies such as photorejunenation and ProFractional laser.
Treatments for fine lines and wrinkles:
Dermal filler
Dermal fillers are a simple and effective method to restore some of the lost volume under your skin. They consist of natural ingredients that are gradually absorbed into the body so this treatment is temporary and occasional touch up treatments will be needed to refresh and maintain the correction.

IPL
Intense Pulsed Light Therapy (IPL), also referred to as photorejuvenation, is one or a series of light treatments which stimulate the production of collagen. IPL will gradually diminish the size of pores and sun damage; it will also target benign pigmented spots and spider veins at the same time. Overall, your skin becomes smoother and brighter.

Microdermabrasion
Our doctors often recommend a microdermabrasion session to prepare the skin for IPL and maximize its benefits. This procedure is inexpensive and non-invasive with no down time or side effects.

ProFractional laser
A ProFractional laser treatment gives all the benefits of a laser skin resurfacing without the same risks of infection or lengthy downtime of other lasers.

Botox
While Botox has received some negative press, the procedure has been used very widely, safely and successfully for many years. South island doctors believe the subtlest use of the injection yields pleasing results and it is a very short time to allow the product to absorb before you resume your usual activities.

Dermal Rolling
The science behind dermal rolling goes back almost ten years. The principle is similar to that of “aerating the lawn”. A series of tiny holes is made by rolling the dermal roller over the skin allowing topically applied creams to penetrate the skin to a greater depth. The tiny holes produced by the dermal roller stimulate the healing cells in the skin to produce collagen which reduces fine lines and wrinkles.
